(Nashville, TN)  --  If you hear some strange booms around downtown over the next few weeks, it might be Nashville Electric Service trying to scare away some unwanted guests.

The utility says beginning tonight, they'll fire a cannon around the central substation on First Avenue in an effort to clear out the flocks of pigeons that have started to move in.  The sound is meant to disrupt their sleeping patterns so they'll find someplace safer to roost.  The cannon will sound three times a night between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. for the next several weeks.
