(Smyrna, TN)  --  A sign placed along I-24 to memorialize a 13-year-old boy killed by a hit and run driver is being removed.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation says the sign is designed to look like a state sign and is creating an unsafe distraction because it's too close to the road.  Clifton Braunwalder died on April 10th after being struck by a car as he changed a flat tire for his mother on the Sam Ridley Parkway overpass in Smyrna.  TDOT says they'll give the sign to Braunwalder's family.
