(New York, NY) -- Tennessee Titans safety Michael Griffin is the latest player to be disciplined for shots to the head.

The NFL is suspending Griffin one game, citing "repeat violation of NFL safety rules prohibiting hits to the head and neck area of a defenseless player." The 28-year-old hit Raiders tight end Mychal Rivera, knocking Rivera's helmet off and him out of the game on Sunday. Griffin was penalized on the play. The former first-round pick would forfeit nearly 206-thousand-dollars if he misses the week. The suspension is subject to appeal.
