The writer, who has a Pulitzer Prize under his belt for The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, penned "an open letter to our fellow Jews" on Medium. In it, he and spouse/fellow author Ayelet Waldman reach out to Jewish people in the US, Israel, and elsewhere who initially held judgment on the president, despite his "long and appalling record of racist statements" and his "troubling" hires.
"The President has no filter, no self-control, you have told yourself," they write. "If he were an anti-Semite … we would know about it, by now. By now, he would surely have told us." With Charlottesville, they say, "Trump told us."
