KGB-style tactics result in another landslide Putin win

It won’t surprise you to hear that Vladimir Putin has been re-elected President — he barred the only opponent who posed a threat from running in the election.

It also won’t surprise you that Putin won by a nearly impossible margin. Or that Russians meddle in their own elections.

RELATED: Russian enemies of Putin are dropping like flies in the UK

Ballot stuffing and forced voting on election day stand as mere cartoonish examples of KGB enforcement. Under mysterious circumstances, Russian critics of Putin have been poisoned, kidnapped, murdered and tortured. We saw this just last week in the UK when a Russian ex-spy and his daughter were poisoned by a Soviet-era nerve agent.

“The rules don’t apply to him.”

Putin’s re-election represents the latest in a history of corruption that can only metastasize and darken. Putin doesn’t even wince as he violates democracy. He takes. He forces. The rules don’t apply to him, and I don’t even need to tell you why that’s dangerous. But I will say that a man without honor, whose word is as worthless as his reign is endless — a man like that cannot be trusted.

His bloodthirst continues. He’s around until 2024 when he’ll be forced to step down. Although that’s plenty of time to change the term-limit rules. Surely, by now, none of us would put it past him.
