The 'fall' of RBG

The left admires coolness over policy. Take the Beto phenomenon. How many Beto admirers could actually tell you about his policies? Same goes for Bernie Sanders and—probably more than anyone else on earth—ultimate cool guy Barack Obama: Many on the left are far more likely to remember his change poster, the one where he's all done up like Che Guevara, than his craftiness with drone strikes or his ineptitude for keeping campaign promises (cough cough Guantanamo Bay).

Lately, there's been a push to achieve this with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who leads the Court's liberal wing. The poster artwork alone for Ginsburg, the recent film about her, looks like a band poster you'd find in Brooklyn. There's the book "Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg," with a slick rendering of RBG made to look like the iconic photo of rapper Notorious BIG on its cover.

Beneath all that graphic design and fawning, though, Ginsburg isn't doing so well. Her health is really becoming an unavoidable reality. The left has done its best to keep her stilted upright, but yesterday brought yet another reminder that she is not as well as the left is blindly believing.

Yesterday morning, Ginsburg, 85, fell while in her office, and Supreme Court police rushed her to George Washington University Hospital. Three broken ribs on her left side.

She's the Court's oldest Justice. The fall is the latest in a series of health issues. She has broken ribs after falls on two previous occasions. She's survived both colon cancer and pancreatic cancer. (The woman survived pancreatic cancer.) In 2014, she had a stent placed in her right coronary artery. And politics aside, we hope that Ms. Ginsburg recovers safely. We, like President Trump, have kept Ms. Ginsburg in our prayers.

The left would gladly play out a Weekend at Bernie's-type situation until 2024 if they had to.

The politics of the situation are far less clear. I don't have to remind you what happened the last time President Trump nominated a Supreme Court Justice by the name of Brett Kavanaugh. The left did not maintain their cool, to say the least. So Ginsburg's health is a serious issue. The left would gladly play out a Weekend at Bernie's-type situation until 2024 if they had to. After all, they already have the Ray Bans.
