Iranian Oil Tanker Explodes Off The Coast Of Saudi Arabia

An oil tanker owned by the National Iranian Oil Company exploded about 60 miles off the coast of Saudi Arabia. The explosion damaged two storerooms on the tanker and caused oil to leak into the Red Sea. The oil leak was plugged, and the vessel is in stable condition. There were no reports of injuries.

Iranian officials say the explosion was caused by two missiles, which struck the ship about 30 minutes apart. Abbas Mousavi, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, called it an "attack" that was committed by countries involved in "dangerous adventurism."

Images released by Iranian state television did not appear to show damage to the ship, and satellite images from the area do not appear to show any smoke.

The price of oil jumped by two percent following news of the explosion.
