Severe Storms Possible Today / Tonight

Middle Tennessee could see a couple of rounds of storms today that have the potential to bring severe weather including damaging winds, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes. The greatest threat is along and west of a Springfield,to Fairview to Columbia line. This area is under an "enhanced risk" or 3 out of 5 chances for severe weather with in 25 miles of a given point. A slight risk extends from near Greenbrier to Nashville, to near Franklin line east to areas along and west of The Cumberland Plateau.

While we could see storms off and on through out the day...the greatest threat will come later this afternoon. Between 2 and 6pm for western middle TN. 3 and 8pm for the central portion of the state including the Nashville Metro Area, and 5p and 9p for areas just west of the Cumberland Plateau.

The amount of available instability will be a big factor for severe weather that does develop this afternoon. Have a reliable way to get warnings, and stay weather aware today.

One of the first rounds of storms moving into the Nashville area at 5:30 this morning. Not severe. But Lightning, gusty winds, and some briefly heavy rain will be possible.
