Schumer Privately Fought to Extend Government Shutdown

Per Axios, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was privately meeting with a group of moderates telling them not to fold before November. So for what reason would the November date be important to Schumer? One, the date would be after the off year election date and two, it would be after the Obamacare enrollment date.

Democrats are blaming Schumer (D-NY) for not prolonging the shutdown. In reality, it could have been much shorter.
Two weeks into the shutdown, a group of moderates told Schumer they were ready to vote to open the government, according to three sources familiar with the conversation.
