We are getting reports that authorities are searching for a felon who escaped custody from the THP early this morning in Franklin.
Authorites are looking for Joseph Perkins who can be seen below. Perkins is accused of assaulting a THP trooper while he was being brought into the Williamson County Jail. Accordinf to reports, Perkins slipped out of his handcuffs and then assaulted the officer.
According to the authorities, the trooper was not injured in the assault.
Perkins was last seen running away on Century Court in Franklin wearing a white T-shirt, gray shorts, tennis shoes and handcuffs. Officials said Perkins' shoes were found at a nearby rock quarry.
