Fundraising efforts launched for TSU player critically injured during game

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Fundraising efforts have been launched for a Tennessee State University football player critically injured in a game over the weekend.

A GoFundMe has been made for Christion Abercrombie, who was injured in Saturday's game against Vanderbilt University. His exact injury has not been disclosed. Abercrombie played through the end of the second quarter, but did not return to the game after halftime.

Officials said Abercrombie was still in critical condition after undergoing surgery on Sunday.

"Christion is resting. He’s fighting. We’re trusting God and please continue to pray," Christion's mom, Staci Abercrombie said Sunday.

Nashville-known "Catfish Jake" also tweeted that he will be donating $100 and urged others to do the same.

Country star Charlie Daniels tweeted about the football player, hoping others would join him in prayer.
