A grand jury indicted an Atlanta attorney on charges of murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault after he allegedly killed a man who threw a golf ball at his Mercedes Benz. Authorities say 48-year-old Bryan K. Schmitt was driving past a rental property owned by 60-year-old Hamid Jahangard when his car as struck by a golf ball.

Schmitt told police he saw make a throwing motion as he drove past and turned around to confront him. He claimed that Jahangard threw a trash can at his car, causing him to swerve and accidentally hit Jahangard.

Police found a golf ball at the scene but noted that there was no damage to Schmitt's 2011 Mercedes CLS550.

After reviewing video footage captured from a car driving behind Schmitt, they determined that he drove his car toward Jahangard and intentionally ran him over. Jahangard was rushed to the hospital where he died two days later.

"Mr. Schmitt's vehicle struck Mr. Jahangard causing him to fall and strike his head," Sandy Springs police said in a statement.
