95 complaints issued against Nashville businesses over Memorial Day Weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —Over Memorial Day Weekend, the Metro Public Health Department received more than 95 complaints against Nashville businesses not following COVID-19 restrictions.

The complaints come as Nashville entered Phase Two of its reopening plan Monday.

Metro Public Health Director Dr. Michael Caldwell said the majority of the complaints involved employees not wearing masks, large gatherings and bars opening their dance floors.

"This is a violation and puts everyone at risk and connects to greatest risk of transmission," Caldwell said of the open dance floors.

Caldwell said he has personally visited Broadway and believes managers and employees are doing a great job with compliance. He said businesses can refer to Mayor Cooper's order No. 6, which details what is required versus what is suggested.

Health officials have asked the community to wear facial coverings, practice social distancing and reward businesses that are following restrictions.
