It's official — Whataburger is coming to Middle Tennessee. After scouting for locations in Murfreesboro, Gallatin, Lebanon, and Madison, the Texas-based fast food chain announced it was opening its first Tennessee location in Hermitage. An official opening date has not been released.
Located at 5055 Old Hickory Boulevard, this marks the company's return to the Volunteer State since it closed its Nashville locations in the 1970s, according to News Channel 5. In addition the Hermitage Whataburger, the company plans to open more locations around the Nashville area in 2022.
"Our employees, who we call Family Members, are the heart and soul of our brand," said Rob Rodriguez, executive vice president and chief operating officer. "Based on the friendly neighbors I've met in the Nashville area, I know there are a lot of wonderful people who we'd love to have join the Whataburger Family, and I encourage them to apply."
With the opening of its newest location, as well as in preparation for future locations, Whataburger plans to hire more than 200 employees from the area this year, including restaurant manager, general manager, and area manager. Hiring is set to begin this summer.
