Jack Daniel's Distillery Appoints First Woman As Assistant Distiller

History was made in Lynchburg after the Jack Daniel's Distillery appointed Lexie Phillips as assistant distiller. Phillips is the first woman to take on the role at the iconic Tennessee whiskey brand, FOX 17 reports.

"I am honored to step into the role of Assistant Distiller and look forward to working alongside Chris [Fletcher] and the best whiskey makers in the world," she said. "Making Tennessee Whiskey has been my life's passion, and I am grateful to be able to inspire a new generation of women to follow in my footsteps."

Phillips was born and raised in the area and has been with Jack Daniel's for seven years, one of several family members to work at the distillery. According to the company, she was instrumental in the distillation and launch of the new Jack Daniel's Tennessee Rye.

In her new role, Phillips will work in collaboration with Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Chris Fletcher.

"Lexie brings a deep knowledge of distillery history and a natural talent for whiskey-making to hew new position," said Fletcher. "She represents the future of our craft, and I am thrilled to now have her by my side as we work together to ensure the highest character and quality of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey."
