Police Say Man In Body Armor Fired Multiple Shots Into Birthday Party

Metro Nashville Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting at a party in a West Nashville apartment last month, WKRN reports. A second shooter is suspected of firing into the residence as well.

According to an arrest warrant, a man, identified as 40-year-old Joshua Starling, was wearing body armor when he allegedly fired multiple shots into the residence where several people were attending a birthday party.

Eight people, including children, were inside the Susannah Court apartment around 11:30 p.m. on April 16 when guests heard a knock at the door. According to a police report, Starling was standing in the threshold of the apartment holding a handgun and what looked to be body armor. After an exchanging of words, a witness said Starling was pushed out the door and told to leave.

That's when the firing began. As shots rang out, partygoers gathered the children inside and took cover. Bullets struck the windows and walls of the apartment as well as some of the vehicles in the parking lot outside. Witnesses said another man also opened fire on the apartment, and detectives said the unidentified suspect was captured on surveillance video.

Starling is facing multiple charges, including eight counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon as a felon. According to WKRN, he was booked into Metro jail Monday night in lieu of a $135,000 bond.
