Chips and dip. This classic combination is a staple at any party or gathering, and is oftentimes the first thing ordered for a table when dining at a restaurant. You may have your personal favorite dip, but have you wondered if it's the same as other people in your state?

To determine the most popular dips in each state, Zippia used Google Trends to see which one was searched for more than any other, narrowing it down to just under 20 popular dips that pair well with tortilla chips. Sorry, dessert dip lovers! No sweet dips were included in the list.

The most popular dip overall was salsa, which was the top choice for 18 states, followed closely by guacamole, a favorite for 15 others. A few states enjoyed ranch and buffalo dips more than others, and Maryland stood alone as the only state whose top search was crab dip.

So which dip is the favorite choice for Tennessee?

Queso Blanco

Based on the data, it appears that most people in Tennessee gravitate toward the white cheese dip. Tennesseans aren't alone in their love for queso blanco. Five more states, plus Washington, D.C., searched for the dip more than any other, including Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana, Georgia and South Carolina.
