As the pandemic continues to make waves across the United States, many people are still without jobs or working in environments that put them at a higher risk of getting sick. To ease some of the concerns, Americans have received three stimulus checks to help pay for groceries, rent, or bills they would otherwise be unable to pay. Now, states across the country are expected to send out additional payments for certain residents, including Tennessee.

According to WKRN, Tennessee is one of four states that plan to send out additional payments to individuals that fit certain categories using funds set aside in state budgets or other initiatives. The other states include California, Florida and New Mexico.

In Tennessee, full-time teachers are set to receive $1,000 hazard pay bonus by the end of 2021. Part-time teachers will also receive a payment of $500, Yahoo! reports.

First responders and families in need in the three other states are also eligible for the additional payments.

While the federal government has sent out three stimulus checks, many people are hoping for a fourth. In July, progressive Democratic lawmakers proposed legislation that would produce monthly payments of up to $1,200 for adults and $600 for children, but it is unclear if the legislation will be considered by Congress.
