Former Fox News host Lou Dobbs died on Thursday (July 18). He was 78. Former President Donald Trump announced Dobbs' passing in a post on Truth Social.
"The Great Lou Dobbs has just passed away — A friend, and truly incredible Journalist, Reporter, and Talent. He understood the World, and what was "happening," better than others. Lou was unique in so many ways, and loved our Country. Our warmest condolences to his wonderful wife, Debi, and family. He will be greatly missed!" Trump wrote.
Fox News Media also released a statement expressing their sorrow over Dobbs' passing.
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lou Dobbs. An incredible business mind with a gift for broadcasting, Lou helped pioneer cable news into a successful and influential industry," the statement read.
Dobbs started working for CNN in 1980, where he hosted Moneyline, which later became Lou Dobbs Tonight. He continued to host the show until he left the network in 2009. In 2011, he restarted Lou Dobbs Tonight on Fox Business. He hosted the show until 2021 when it was canceled one day after Dobbs was named in a lawsuit accusing him and other Fox hosts of promoting conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.
