Representative Elaine Davis is filing a bill to eliminate Tennessee's grocery tax. Davis states the bill would not raise taxes on businesses and would allow counties to implement their own grocery tax. The Knoxville representative says, "This legislation will save families hundreds of dollars annually and not have any consequences for our business owners or their employees." The bill will be presented in the January legislative session. Representative Aftyn Behn is refiling a similar bill which would tax large businesses.
