Sometimes you need a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Maybe you want to move away from big city living or perhaps you simply want to see what interesting small towns are out there and learn more about their fascinating histories, dine at hole-in-the-wall restaurants, take a leisurely stroll to see the natural splendor or have some fun at unique attractions. Fortunately, there are plenty such hidden gems found around the country that are worth visiting on a day trip or weekend getaway.
HGTV searched around the country for "charming" hamlets and villages to compile a list of the "best kept secret" of the best small town in every state. According to the site, the top choice for Tennessee is Paris.
Here's what HGTV had to say about this quaint spot:
"Home to a 70-foot replica of the Eiffel Tower, Paris, Tennessee, draws visitors to its historic district and winery. It's also known for hosting the World's Biggest Fish Fry, where the town serves more than five tons of catfish every year. Reel in your own catch at Paris Landing State Park... or golf, swim and camp. An annual Christmas festival, Heritage Center and dozens of seasonal events are other big draws."
