Straight up unhinged territory.
Tennessee Democrat Rep. Steve Cohen says he’s worried about about all the National Guardsmen securing Biden’s inauguration in DC this week because on top of being white they likely voted for Biden.
He says:
“The Guard is 90-some-odd percent, I believe, male. Only about 20% of white males voted for Biden. You gotta figure that in the Guard, which is predominantly more conservative, and I see that on my social media ... they're probably not more than 25% of the people that are there protecting us who voted for Biden.
The other 75% are in the class that would be the large class of folks who might want to do something. And there were military people and police who took oaths to defend the Constitution and to protect and defend who didn’t do it who were in the insurrection. So it does concern me.”
Cohen then made the case that every white National Guardsman should be treated as suspects, saying "you draw a circle, the first circle is people who worked for Trump and not for Biden, as far as people who would be in the zone of folks who you would be suspect of. The suspect group is large.”
Of course, CNN’s Jake Tapper then echoes Cohen’s unhinged conspiracy theory.
Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott responded to Cohen noting that he “believes some of our troops are a threat merely because they’re white & male. Our military members dedicate their lives to serving & protecting our country. Anyone who questions their ability to do so based on ignorant assumptions such as these should be ashamed.
