From the NY Times, Gov. Kathy Hochul already appears to be at odds with the incoming socialist mayor as she has concerns with the free bussing. This will be Hochul's undoing in her reelection bid in 2026 as the will have to burn the candle at both ends in dealing with which Zohran Mamdani and his socialist policies.

Ms. Hochul, who controls the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the state agency that operates the city’s public transit, told reporters in San Juan, P.R., that she was not ready to move forward with his plan and that she would prefer to subsidize fares only for low-income riders.
